Bioabsorbent fiber
An ecological solution
Our innovative bioabsorbent fiber absorbs hydrocarbons and their chemical derivatives , completely encapsulating them, leaving the surface clean and degreased, without the need to use water or chemicals.
Applications
To control leaks, spills, maintenance, on mechanical workshops, railways, parking lots, highways, factories, service stations, airports, seabeds, rivers, etc.
Physical Properties

- Specific gravity 0.20 – 0.22 PH 7 (Neutral)
- Flash point 280 – 290 °C Flammability (wet) Not flammable
- Chemical resistance oils, fats, hydrocarbons, solvents, Cl2Ca, salt.
- Humidity 5%
- Ash content 4 %
It is a very broad general purpose biosorbent. Easy to sweep and clean the floor where spills occurred. If used on water (whether sea or rivers) the product absorbs, encapsulates the hydrocarbon and contains it while waiting for it to be collected. In the tests carried out, it was verified that it does not affect or contaminate marine zoology or the marine environment.
In case of being used on land surfaces, we have precedents where by combining the absorbent, the soil and the absorbed oil plus a treatment with bacteria, “Land Farming together with a period of time creates a Land Farm, transforming this soil again into useful for agricultural means. It is recommended to follow all these applications taking into account local environmental regulations.

Differences with other absorbents
Main differences with other absorbents on the market:
Mineral absorbents such as sepiolite are mined in quarries and are not renewable. They contain silica and magnesium. Workers may be exposed to carcinogenic agents by inhaling silica dust. The absorbed product cannot be recovered and its final disposal has no residual value.
Synthetic absorbents such as polypropylene only adhere to hydrocarbons and do not absorb them, therefore they leach out what is adhered to. When polypropylene is heated to high temperatures it decomposes and releases toxic gases that are harmful to health. The waste generated that ends up in the sea damages the ecosystem irreparably.
Peat has a huge environmental impact, as uncontrolled exploitation not only damages the life that inhabits it, but also the health of the entire planet. Peat bogs help regulate the climate and are home to a great diversity of plant, animal and insect species.
- OilKontrol® does not exploit natural resources.
We recycle and process organic waste materials to protect our environment. - OilKontrol® enables the recovery of absorbed hydrocarbons and/or their use as alternative fuel.
- OilKontrol® does not leach encapsulated hydrocarbon.
- OilKontrol® filters oily and emulsified waters.
